Considering the rapid growth of the Indian market, Hyundai Mobis aims to nurture its Indian research institute as a global hub for cost competitiveness, quality, and technology development. New car sales in India reached 5.2 million units, making it the third-largest market in the world.

Hyundai Mobis noted that especially with the increase in sales of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and electric vehicles in the local market, the trend of applying autonomous driving features, including large displays and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), is becoming more active.

Hyundai Mobis plans to increase participation from the Indian research institute from the product development stage and to develop local vehicle software in-house. The scope of development at the Indian research institute will also be expanded to include productivity efficiency through artificial intelligence (AI).

Lee Jong-geun, head of the Hyundai Mobis Indian research institute, said, 'The Indian research institute has a wide pool of developers, where many new research and development attempts are being made,' adding, 'Based on nearly 20 years of experience in developing mass-produced vehicle models, I will promote the advancement of software and contribute to enhancing product competitiveness.'
