Hanwha Ocean noted on the 30th that it visited the Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk and Nauta shipyard in Gdynia on the 25th to 26th to discuss cooperation on vessel construction, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business, and diversification of ship types and eco-friendly technology. A delegation of 17 members from various fields, including overseas sales of special vessels, strategy, purchasing, and production, visited the shipyards.

The Remontowa shipyard has an annual track record of building and repairing about 200 vessels. It is regarded as the top shipyard in the MRO sector in Europe, particularly known for its technological prowess in commercial and special vessels. The Nauta shipyard, a subsidiary of the Polish state defense group PGZ, is a defense-specialized shipyard with extensive experience in military business and vessel design capabilities. Nauta has built and maintained numerous existing vessels for the Polish Navy and holds a 2nd market share in the military vessel MRO market in Poland.

Hanwha Ocean said, "At the Remontowa shipyard, we discussed diversification of ship types, including general commercial vessels and cooperation on eco-friendly technologies, while at the Nauta shipyard, we discussed new construction of vessels and MRO business."

Hanwha Ocean is expanding cooperation with local corporations in Poland to win the ORKA project. Last year, it signed a business agreement with the Polish defense group WB for cooperation on submarine projects and is focusing on localization by establishing MRO plans with the Polish state defense group PGZ and the UK’s Babcock.

Park Seong-woo, executive director of Hanwha Ocean's overseas business division, noted, "Currently, the selection of a preferred negotiator for the ORKA project has not been made, and Hanwha Ocean is also being considered as a strong candidate."
