On the 19th, the global K-beauty e-commerce platform "Macaron" announced that it will officially launch its services in six Middle Eastern countries on the 1st of next month as part of its global business expansion.
Having entered the Indian market in 2019, Macaron has established itself as the largest K-beauty platform in India with over 380 brands such as COSRX and Jojotree, showcasing more than 18,000 products and recording a total of 1.16 million subscribers and 1.2 million monthly active users (MAU) as of February.
As global interest in K-beauty is surging, the demand for K-beauty in the Middle Eastern market is also rapidly increasing. In response, Macaron plans to expand its services to six Middle Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.
The company explained that there are many similarities in the documentation required for entering the Indian and Middle Eastern markets, allowing brands and products already on Macaron to quickly enter the Middle Eastern market. Macaron is assisting K-beauty products in swiftly entering the Indian and Middle Eastern markets by automating document review and error detection with its self-developed AI hygiene approval system.
Macaron plans to offer over 2,000 products across various categories such as skincare, sun care, makeup, and hair care, reflecting the skin types and makeup trends of consumers in the Middle Eastern countries. To provide an optimized shopping environment for customers, it will enhance convenience through a personalized recommendation system, support for local currencies and U.S. dollar payments by country, and the establishment of a logistics and delivery network throughout the Middle East.
Yoo Seung-wan, the CEO of Blimom Kids, which operates Macaron, said, "Based on the operational know-how and data accumulated over the past six years in the Indian market, we will target Middle Eastern consumers," adding, "We will quickly provide not only products tailored to consumer needs but also new products and seasonal items to leap to the top platform in global K-beauty."
Meanwhile, Macaron secured 12.5 billion won in Series B funding last year.
