Euisun Chung, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, met with Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of U.S. President Donald Trump, during a golf round held in the United States.
According to AFP on the 12th (local time), Trump Jr. participated in the PGA Tour Genesis Invitational pro-am held at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, USA. Trump Jr.'s daughter, Kai Trump, who is currently an active golfer, and golf player Rory McIlroy also participated as companions.
Witnesses reported that Chairman Chung did not play in the round but moved with his group and spent time together. He was said to have had many conversations with Trump Jr.
Trump Jr. is considered a key figure in the second term of Donald Trump's administration, which launched last month. He recommended J.D. Vance, who is close to him, to President Trump, and actively participated during the election campaign.
Key political and economic figures in various countries are making efforts to communicate with the Trump administration through Trump Jr. Last month, Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, visited Mar-a-Lago Resort in Florida, where President Trump resides, to meet with Trump Jr.
Hyundai Motor Group is exposed to the most external uncertainties since the launch of the second Trump administration. President Trump has also stated that he would reduce support benefits for electric vehicles and impose high tariffs on automobiles and steel.
For this reason, the meeting between Chairman Chung and Trump Jr. is considered to have significant meaning in broadening communication channels with the Trump administration and exploring opportunities in the U.S. market.
