The Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated on the 11th that it will recruit around 50 startups to participate in the 2025 public-private partnership open innovation support project starting from the 12th.

The public-private partnership open innovation support project is an initiative by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to encourage partnerships between large corporations, mid-sized enterprises, public organizations, and startups, and to establish and support collaborative systems.

Through this project last year, the startup company ㈜Siri Energy, which collaborated with Hyundai Corporation, developed recycling technology for silicon materials for next-generation secondary batteries using solar glass provided by the company, and successfully filed for domestic and international patents.

Startups selected this year will receive up to 120 million won in commercialization funding. They can also receive up to 120 million won in linked startup growth technology development funding.

The project consists of two programs: problem-solving type and self-suggestion type.

The problem-solving type program involves startups collaboratively solving the projects submitted by demand corporations such as large companies. This year, 30 collaborative projects submitted by 26 demand corporations were selected in four key areas: ▲ Implementing carbon neutrality ▲ Leading future innovation ▲ New digital transformation ▲ Enhancing growth engines. A two-stage evaluation process consisting of documentation and presentations, along with mentoring, will be conducted to select over 30 companies.

The self-suggestion type program supports collaboration between startups and large corporations, mid-sized enterprises, and public organizations, in connection with startup nurturing programs operated in the private sector. Starting this year, a track linked to economic free zones has been established, and 20 collaborative projects from 20 demand corporations have been selected. Demand corporations will publicly recruit startups to collaborate on each project for selection and recommendation, enabling the support.
