The online video service (OTT) Watcha announced on the 6th that the content evaluation platform Watchapedia has surpassed 4 million monthly active users (MAU). This is on par with utility services such as finance and delivery.

Watchapedia is a content recommendation and evaluation service that began in 2011. It provides rankings that encompass not only major domestic and international OTT platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Wavve, and Tving but also content from terrestrial and cable broadcasters.

Users can receive recommendations for content that matches their preferences and can record content they want to watch or like.

Watcha believes that the addition of new features has driven the expansion of Watchapedia's MAU. At the end of last year, Watchapedia revamped its home screen and added new features such as a magazine, hot ranking, and 'Zitteco' (the currently trending comments). The analysis indicates that strengthening in-app marketing focused on the community feature that allows for free sharing of impressions and improving usability, including the search function, has been effective.

Analyzing individual users' preference data with AI algorithms to provide predicted star ratings is also a strength of Watchapedia. Based on data from works users have evaluated in the past, Watchapedia calculates and provides predicted star ratings for each content.

The number of registered contents in Watchapedia increased by about 6.1%, from 26,157 in 2023 to 27,756 in 2024. The cumulative number of evaluated contents is over 730 million.
