An Asiana Airlines passenger plane heading to Chiang Mai, Thailand, had its flight canceled during takeoff preparations due to aircraft malfunction.
According to Asiana Airlines, at 12:25 a.m. local time on the 25th, flight OZ766, which was scheduled to depart from Chiang Mai International Airport in Thailand and arrive at Incheon International Airport, was halted during acceleration on the runway after an engine anomaly was detected. Some passengers reported seeing flames coming from the engine.
Asiana Airlines immediately disembarked over 270 passengers and transported them to a hotel. A substitute flight will be provided at 4:55 p.m. on the same day.
Asiana Airlines noted regarding the incident, "We are currently confirming the extent of the engine anomaly," adding, "We apologize for the unavoidable measures that have caused inconvenience to passengers."
