Hyundai Motor will launch a market offensive, including unveiling a ultra-small electric vehicle suited for India's transportation environment.
Hyundai Motor noted that it participated in the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 held at the Mandapam Convention Center in Delhi, India, on the 18th (local time), and announced its vision for micro mobility in India. Micro mobility refers to small means of transportation, including electric motorcycles and ultra-small electric vehicles, widely used in public transport in India and the Asia-Pacific region.
Hyundai Motor established a vision to contribute to enhancing the mobility experience of Indian customers through the distribution of 'eco-friendly and safe micro mobility' by considering local characteristics in India. Under this vision, Hyundai Motor unveiled concept models of three-wheeled and micro four-wheeled EVs that can be utilized in the Indian market in the future.
The size of the three-wheeled and micro four-wheeled EV concept models unveiled that day is small. This is to flexibly respond to the complex local situation in India, where there is heavy traffic. Hyundai Motor reported that it has secured superior driving performance and stability compared to existing vehicles in India. It has improved visibility and collision protection through an angled windshield and enhanced mobility convenience through a flat floor.
In particular, considering the high utilization rate of three-wheeled vehicles in India, the three-wheeled EV concept is equipped with towing hooks and foldable seats for wheelchair users to be utilized for various purposes such as transportation, logistics, and emergency rescue. It is designed to adjust the vehicle height to enable smooth driving even in India's climate, which frequently experiences heavy rainfall.
Lee Sang-yeop, Vice President in charge of global design at Hyundai Genesis, stated, 'This concept is optimized for shared mobility in India's roads and traffic conditions,' adding, 'Hyundai Motor will always place the customer at the center of design and contribute to creating a mobility ecosystem in India and enhancing customers' mobility experience.'
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor also revealed its collaboration plan with TVS Motor, a manufacturer of three-wheeled vehicles in India, at the event that day. The two companies will provide technical capabilities and related know-how in vehicle design and development, based on Hyundai Motor's experience in mass-producing complete vehicles. TVS Motor is reviewing plans to supply micro mobility by taking charge of local production and sales.
