Starting in July 2025, users will be able to obtain and use mobile identification cards from four bank apps.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 13th that it has selected Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, the Industrial Bank of Korea, and Hana Bank as companies participating in the 2025 mobile identification card private opening. With this selection, mobile identification cards will be available for issuance and use through a total of 10 private apps in addition to government apps.
Previously, Samsung Electronics has been offering this service since March of last year, and KB Kookmin Bank, Naver, NongHyup, Toss, and KakaoBank will begin their services at the end of this month. The four selected corporations will start system development this month, aiming to complete the system setup by the first quarter of next year, and if they pass the suitability evaluation by the second quarter, they plan to provide mobile identification card services starting in July.
