Sang-jin Park, the CEO of Naver Pay, said, "Naver Pay has the optimal environment for various products and services based on the Korean won stablecoin" and noted, "We are considering the role Naver Pay can play."
On the morning of the 26th, Park attended the 'Npay Media Day 2025' held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul, stating, "Naver Pay has over 30 million users and merchants, along with financial and payment, and distribution environments." He explained, "Stablecoins, which have garnered significant market interest recently, will be one of the key intermediaries that enable change and response in the various financial environments faced by each country."
He added, "The discussions have just begun, and there are various discussions regarding innovation and the management of regulatory risks," stating, "Cautiously, if a rational system can be established through a deep consideration of the market and review by the authorities, Naver Pay is ready to take a leading role."
Park explained that Naver Pay plans to take a leading role in the industry stablecoin consortium with its technology, including its easy payment ecosystem and the ‘Npay Wallet’, a web3-based digital asset wallet. He also projected that it could play a key financial infrastructure role in various global businesses that Team Naver is currently conducting or planning in the future.
However, Park added that he is cautious as there is still no clear direction from the financial authorities or the Bank of Korea. He emphasized, "In the future, the Npay app will not only meet financial needs across all lifestyles, but also provide 'digital financial hub' services that extend beyond borders, delivering a global-level experience."
