The domestic stock market transaction amount has surpassed 40 trillion won for the first time in 1 year and 11 months.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 26th, the transaction amount on the regular trading day, which was the previous trading day on the 25th, for the KOSPI, KOSDAQ, and KONEX markets totaled 27.936 trillion won.
The transaction amount for the alternative exchange NextTrade reached a total of 14.2057 trillion won, including 3.2378 trillion won in the premarket and 10.9679 trillion won in the regular market. Additionally, the after-market (3:40 p.m. to 8 p.m.) transaction amount was 2.0068 trillion won.
The combined stock market transaction amount of the Korea Exchange and NextTrade was 43.3061 trillion won, marking a return to the 40 trillion won range for the first time in about 1 year and 11 months since July 27, 2023, when it was 40.1005 trillion won.
Recently, as the domestic stock market shows signs of booming, investment funds appear to be converging into the stock market. On this day, the KOSPI index closed at 3103.64, soaring 2.96% from the previous session, recovering the 3100 level for the first time in 3 years and 9 months. The KOSDAQ index rose by 2.06% to finish above the 800 level at 800.93 for the first time in about 11 months.
Furthermore, since the introduction of the alternative exchange NextTrade in March, the stock trading hours have been extended from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., which is believed to have contributed to the increase in transaction amounts. On this day, the alternative exchange's transaction amount reached an all-time high with the premarket surpassing 3 trillion won and the main market approaching 11 trillion won.
Yang Hae-jeong, a researcher at DS Investment & Securities, noted, "Now that the KOSPI has surpassed the long-standing resistance level of 3,000, it has entered the valuation expansion zone. Valuation expansion means a PBR (price-to-book ratio) of over 1 and a PER (price-to-earnings ratio) of over 10, and if the PBR reaches the level of 1, the index could be between 3200 and 3300 points."
