Mastern Asset Management, a specialized alternative investment asset management company, appointed So Eun-jung as the new Deputy Minister of Compliance on the 19th. Ms. So is the company's first female Deputy Minister of Compliance.

Ms. So graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in law and obtained a master's degree in law from the same graduate school. The company explained that she is a specialist who has built expertise in compliance over approximately 20 years in the securities and asset management industries.

Ms. So began her career in 2006 at the compliance team of Eugene Asset Management, then built her experience in compliance-related roles at the compliance team of Kyobo AXA Asset Management, the R&C (Risk & Compliance) headquarters of Heungkuk Asset Management, and the compliance support team of Shinyoung Securities. After joining Mastern Asset Management as the head of compliance in 2022, she has now been promoted to Deputy Minister of Compliance. Ms. So plans to focus on enhancing the internal control system of Mastern Asset Management and improving the ethical awareness of employees.

Namgung Hoon, CEO of Mastern Asset Management, noted that "Ms. So will further strengthen Mastern Asset Management's compliance management system based on the deep insights and differentiated professional capabilities she has accumulated over her long career in the industry," and added, "In particular, I expect her to achieve both the building of investor trust and the strengthening of risk management capabilities through systematic improvements in the internal control system."

Earlier, Mastern Asset Management appointed Seo Yu-mi, an accountant at Woo Accounting Corporation, as its first female outside director since its founding in 2023. Outside Director Seo is an expert in accounting and auditing who has worked at Korea Land Trust, Samil Accounting Corporation, Samil PwC Consulting, and the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mastern Asset Management is not obligated to appoint a female outside director as a non-listed company, but it received positive evaluations in the industry for taking proactive measures to enhance the diversity of its board.
