The National Credit Union Federation of Korea announced on the 16th that it held a signing ceremony and orientation for the 2025 cooperative coexistence and growth 'Eobuba' project in collaboration with the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency at the Daejeon Credit Union Central Training Institute on the 11th.
This ceremony was organized to mark the official start of projects aimed at solving various issues faced by local communities, based on solidarity and cooperation among credit unions nationwide. A total of 42 attendees were present at the signing ceremony, including Park Gyu-hee, head of the Happiness Sharing Division of the National Credit Union Federation, and Ahn Soo-jin, head of the Cooperative Support Division of the promotion agency, as well as representatives from credit unions and related credit union employees.
Since signing a business agreement in 2013, the National Credit Union Federation and the promotion agency have supported the establishment and growth of approximately 43 credit unions. To date, they have continuously pursued project funding linked to local credit unions through a cumulative sponsorship of 300 million won, fostering coexistence and growth among credit unions.
This year's project will be hosted by the promotion agency, with the National Credit Union Federation and the Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation sponsoring a total of 80 million won. Ninety-three credit unions nationwide participated after going through a professional review, and a final selection of 10 projects will be operated for about four months.
The projects selected this year are composed of various themes reflecting social issues such as aging, climate crisis, and youth problems. Major projects include medical care initiatives for elderly individuals and health-vulnerable populations, support for recovery in regions affected by wildfires in Gyeongsangbuk-do, climate and energy activities aimed at achieving carbon neutrality, creation of community-based residences for youth, holiday support for youth preparing for independence, joint social contribution activities among credit unions, and projects that spread social value based on data.
Park Gyu-hee, head of the Happiness Sharing Division of the National Credit Union Federation, noted, "Through this project, we will do our utmost to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among credit unions and contribute to solving common problems in local communities."
