Goodai Global is pushing to acquire Round Lab, a K-beauty brand known for its "Dokdo Toner," in partnership with Company K.
On the 21st, according to the investment banking (IB) industry, the Goodai Global and Company K consortium has recently been selected as the preferred negotiator for acquiring the management rights of Serin Company, the operator of the K-beauty brand Round Lab.
Private equity fund (PEF) manager Calyps Capital and MERITZ Securities had previously selected Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA) as the lead manager for the sale, pushing for the divestment of Serin Company.
The sale target is the 100% equity stake of Serin Company held by Calyps Capital and MERITZ Securities, with the transaction value reported to be around 600 billion won.
Goodai Global emerged as a major player in the K-beauty merger and acquisition (M&A) market after acquiring Tirtir and Lacoco Corporation in 2023, and Crever Corporation, the operator of "Skin1004," in the latter half of last year.
Goodai Global and Company K, which acted as a financial investor, were also highlighted earlier this year as a candidate for acquiring Serin Company. The two companies plan to raise funds through a combination of project fund formation and acquisition financing.
Serin Company has solidified its position in the market with the "Dokdo Toner" under the Round Lab brand. Last year's revenue was about 100 billion won, and the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) were reported to be around 90 billion won.
Meanwhile, Calyps Capital and MERITZ Securities are poised to recover their investment about two years after acquiring Serin Company. Earlier, in July 2023, they acquired the management equity for 235.3 billion won.
