The bio-recognition solution specialist Union Biometrics noted on the 19th that it has obtained a domestic patent for the 'access control system for pets and its access control method.'

This patent relates to a pet recognition and access management system utilizing the unique biometric information of pets, 'nose prints (nose wrinkles).' Automated management from pet registration to authentication and access control is possible.

The system consists of a terminal, a registration certificate issuer, and a central server. It is configured to register the pet’s nose print information along with the guardian's information, based on which authentication procedures are conducted during access through the registration code assigned to the registration certificate.

Union Biometrics plans to strengthen its nose print-based pet registration solution business by utilizing the technology. In particular, it will promote the expansion of public projects linked to government tasks such as animal registration systems and policies to prevent stray animals, through the integration of electronic tag (RFID) functionalities. It will also supply tailored solutions to hospitals, hotels, kindergartens, pet cafes, and pet playgrounds where pets are allowed.

A company representative said, 'This patent underpins the business scalability of the world's first commercialized contact-based nose print recognition technology,' and added, 'By presenting a new standard for pet registration and authentication, we will continuously lead the next-generation authentication technology based on biometrics in the domestic and international pet tech markets.'
