The Financial Supervisory Service gathered the chief information security officers (CISOs) of the financial sector and urged the establishment of security systems regarding the hacking of SK Telecom's SIM card information.

FSS's Chief Deputy Commissioner Lee Se-hoon held a CISO meeting for financial companies at the FSS headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and conveyed these requests. Lee emphasized that “financial security incidents directly lead to significant damage to the company, and the ultimate responsibility lies with the management, including the chief executive officer (CEO).” He added, “It is necessary to pay special attention to establishing security systems against cyber threats.” Additionally, Deputy Commissioner Lee noted that preparations for potential cyber attacks ahead of the presidential election are also necessary.

The FSS plans to establish an integrated command system for response to cyber security threats in collaboration with relevant agencies to prevent financial consumer damage resulting from the hacking incident at SK Telecom, centered on its emergency response headquarters.
