On the 9th, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) started higher, buoyed by news of the conclusion of trade negotiations between the United States and the United Kingdom. All three major stock indexes on the New York Stock Exchange closed strongly the previous night.

According to the Korea Exchange, on this day, the KOSPI index started at 2587.93 and, as of 9:03 a.m., recorded an increase of 4.90 points (0.19%) to 2584.38 compared to the previous trading day.

Individuals are leading the index increase with a net purchase of 64.1 billion won. Institutions and foreign investors are net selling 15 billion won and 47.2 billion won, respectively.

As the KOSPI index has shown strength over the past three trading days, the conclusion of broad trade negotiations between the U.S. and the U.K. overnight contributed to the index's early gains.

First, the U.S. decided to withdraw the 25% tariff imposed on automobiles from the U.K. A basic tariff of 10% will be applied to 100,000 vehicles per year. Tariffs on U.K. steel and aluminum items will also be abolished.

Specific details are set to be agreed upon in discussions over the coming weeks, but the market reacted positively to the trade agreement with a major country, the first since the U.S. announced national tariffs on the 2nd of last month.

On the 8th (local time), the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.07% on the New York Stock Exchange, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard and Poor's (S&P) 500 Index increased by 0.62% and 0.58%, respectively.

The stock prices of the top companies by market capitalization in the securities market (KOSPI) are mostly climbing. In particular, buoyed by the rise in tech stocks on the U.S. New York Stock Exchange the previous night, both Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are performing strongly.

Additionally, the stock prices of Samsung Biologics, Hanwha Aerospace, Hyundai Motor Company, and Celltrion are also rising. In contrast, LG Energy Solution, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and KB Financial are experiencing weakness.

At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is declining. It shows a decrease of 0.79 points (0.11%) to 728.80 compared to the previous trading day. Foreign and institutional investors are net selling 34 billion won and 16.9 billion won, respectively.

The stock prices of the top companies in the KOSDAQ market are also weak. Among the top 10 companies, 7, including Alteogen, Ecopro-BM, and Ecopro, are showing losses. HLB, PharmaResearch, and LigaChem Biosciences are strong.
