A financial incident amounting to 6.4 billion won occurred at Hana Bank due to fraud by an outsider. KB Kookmin Bank also reported a financial incident of 2.1 billion won due to fraud by an outsider.

According to the financial sector on 4th, Hana Bank announced through a disclosure that on 2nd, there were a total of three financial incidents caused by an outsider. It was reported that these incidents all occurred due to an outsider submitting false documents during the loan application process.

The first financial incident occurred between August 2018 and May 2020, with a loss of approximately 3.09826 billion won. Hana Bank noted that "the incident was discovered through an internal investigation." The second incident occurred over about two years starting in January 2021, with a loss of 1.19714 billion won. This incident emerged during the factual verification process by law enforcement agencies.

The third incident occurred between August and October 2022. The incident amount was 2.079 billion won. Hana Bank stated that "the incident was recognized through complaints and tips."

Hana Bank stated that "they are currently taking recovery measures through the sale of collateral" and plans to proceed with criminal complaints against related outsiders based on the results of the investigation by law enforcement agencies.

On the same day, KB Kookmin Bank also disclosed a financial incident amounting to 2.07450 billion won due to fraud by an outsider. The incident occurred from May 2021 to November 2022, and it was reported that the incident was discovered through the "reporting of major information to the business office." Regarding the incident response, KB Kookmin Bank mentioned that "the investigation by law enforcement agencies is currently underway."
