The Financial Services Commission announced on the 2nd that Chairperson Kim Byeong-hwan has nominated Jeong Jeong-hoon, former Director of the Tax Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as the new president of the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO).
The nominee, Jeong Jeong-hoon, born in 1967, graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in economics and received a master's degree from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Following his passing the 37th National Administrative Service Examination, he has held various positions at the Ministry of Economy and Finance since 2011, including Director of Income Corporate Tax Policy and Director of Tax Comprehensive Policy. He served as the Director of the Tax Bureau in 2023.
A Financial Services Commission official noted, "We judged him to be the right person to smoothly carry out the core functions of the asset management corporation based on his diverse experience in promoting economic policies and his expertise related to taxes."
