Jeong Jeong-hoon, former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, has been elected as the next president candidate of Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO).

KAMCO held an extraordinary shareholders' meeting on the 29th and confirmed Jeong as the candidate for the next president. He will have to go through the final appointment procedure by the acting president after the recommendation from the chairman of the Financial Services Commission.

The term of the current president Kwon Nam-joo expired in January this year, but the appointment of a new president was delayed amid the impeachment crisis. KAMCO recruited candidates again last month and selected about three candidates, and a sole candidate was determined after the shareholders' meeting.

It has been six years since an individual from the Ministry of Economy and Finance was appointed as the president of KAMCO, following the former president Moon Sung-yu, who was a Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination.
