BDO Seonghyun Accounting Corporation announced on the 29th that it has newly recruited Shin Geum-cheol, an executive with expertise in the domestic and international insurance and financial sectors. The company explained that this recruitment is a measure to respond to the demand for the advancement of insurance and financial consulting services and to further strengthen its advisory capabilities in the financial industry.
Shin is an expert who has worked for a total of six years at the EY offices in New York and London, gaining in-depth experience in global financial accounting and risk management. He contributed to the initial introduction of global insurance accounting standards such as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) 17 and Solvency II in South Korea and has led related advisory projects.
While serving as the lead partner in financial consulting at EY Han Young, he contributed to successfully establishing advanced techniques in the country by introducing the first co-insurance and macro hedging strategies to insurance companies and banks. He is particularly proficient in various data analysis languages such as Python, R, and SQL, and has performed statistical-based advisory services utilizing these tools.
Additionally, Executive Shin participated as a commissioner in the Financial Supervisory Service's KICS task force, playing a leading role in establishing external audit guidelines. He is currently active as a commissioner on the risk management committee of the Korean Insurance Actuarial Society, contributing to systematic development across the insurance industry.
