Shinhan Bank issues over 2 million SOL Travel check cards amid rising popularity

Shinhan Bank's 'SOL Travel check card,' which offers free currency exchange benefits, has surpassed 2 million issued cards. It has been 14 months since Shinhan Bank and Shinhan Card launched the card in February last year with the goal of providing benefits 365 days a year.

On the 27th, Shinhan Bank announced that the cumulative issuance of the SOL Travel check card has exceeded 2 million cards. The card achieved 300,000 issuances just one month after its launch in March last year, and reached 1 million in July, culminating in the milestone of 2 million this month. The SOL Travel check card has also achieved 1.2 billion dollars (approximately 1.726 trillion won) in foreign currency exchange and 1 billion dollars (1.438 trillion won) in overseas spending.

The fact that there is no annual fee while offering various benefits is noted as the reason for the popularity of the SOL Travel check card. This card provides users with ▲100% exchange rate preferential treatment for currencies of 42 countries ▲waiver of overseas transaction fees ▲discount on ATM withdrawal fees ▲5% discount at the four major convenience stores in Korea ▲1% discount on public transportation. Notably, if the previous month's spending exceeds 300,000 won, users can access over 1,200 airport lounges for free twice a year (once in each half).

Since last July, Shinhan Bank has established the 'Check Card Solutions Division' within its Customer Solutions Group to strengthen the competitiveness of the check card business, including the SOL Travel check card. The bank is consistently introducing new services to enhance customer convenience, such as 'automatic payment for shortfalls,' which allows use without pre-loading foreign currency.

Shinhan Bank plans to hold a travel-related short-form contest to celebrate the issuance of 2 million SOL Travel check cards from the 28th to the 16th of next month. A Shinhan Bank official said, 'We will continue to provide various financial benefits to ensure that the SOL Travel check card can become an essential item for overseas travel.'
