On the 3rd, the domestic stock market opened significantly lower due to the impact of the U.S. reciprocal tariff announcement. Both foreign investors and institutions have been net sellers, leading to declines in most of the top market capitalization stocks.

On that day, the KOSPI index started trading at 2,437.43, down 68.43 points (2.73%). However, the early losses are decreasing. As of 9:20 a.m., the decline shrank to about 1.9%, allowing the index to recover the 2,450 level.

Most of the top market capitalization stocks, including Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, LG Energy Solution, and Hyundai Motor, are trending downward. Conversely, Samsung Biologics and Hanwha Aerospace show gains of around 2%. Out of 1,016 KOSPI corporations, 777 have seen their stock prices decline.

The U.S. government announced that a 25% reciprocal tariff would be imposed on all products produced in South Korea and imported into the United States. President Donald Trump unveiled the reciprocal tariff policy, which consists of basic tariffs and individual tariffs imposed on so-called 'worst nations,' during a speech on the afternoon of the 2nd local time. He stated that the basic tariff will be implemented on the 5th of this month, while the individual tariff will take effect on the 9th.

South Korea has been classified as a country subject to individual tariffs. The major export items to the U.S. include semiconductors, automobiles, batteries, and petroleum products. Industries that are concerned about tariff damage are seeing a broad decline, contributing to a drop in the stock market.

At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 673.66, down 11.19 points (1.63%) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ index started trading at 670.75 that day. In the KOSDAQ market, institutions are net selling 21.6 billion won, while foreign investors and individuals are purchasing 21.7 billion and 1.3 billion won, respectively.

Among the top KOSDAQ market capitalization stocks, ECOPRO BM is down about 2%, while PharmaResearch and Ecopro are also trending downward. In contrast, Rainbow Robotics is showing gains of about 3%.
