Daylight saving time in the United States begins at 2 a.m. on the 9th (local time). Daylight saving time is a system that advances the clock by one hour to save energy as the days get longer in the summer.
With the implementation of daylight saving time, the opening hours of the U.S. stock market will also be advanced by one hour. Starting from this day, the pre-market will be open from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. based on Korean time. Regular trading will continue from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
The after-market will operate from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., and the after-market extension will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Although the after-market opening time is moved one hour earlier, an additional hour is added to the opening time, so the closing time remains the same.
The period of daylight saving time for the U.S. stock market is until October 31. It is scheduled to return to the trading hours before daylight saving time starting from November 3.
European stock markets will also apply daylight saving time from the end of this month until October 24. The stock markets in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France will be open from 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. the next day based on Korean time.
