Lee Chan-woo (59), former Vice Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Service, was appointed as the new chairman of NH NongHyup Financial Group on the 3rd.
NongHyup Financial held a board meeting and an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders that afternoon, confirming the appointment of former Vice Chairman Lee.
Previously, the NongHyup Financial Executive Nomination Committee had designated Lee as the next chairman of NongHyup Financial on Dec. 27 last year. However, his appointment was immediately restricted as he was subject to an employment review by the Public Service Ethics Committee. Lee completed the review process at the end of last month.
Lee is a native of Yeongdeok, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and graduated from the Seoul National University Department of Political Science after attending a prestigious high school. He entered public service in 1987 as part of the 31st Administrative Examination. He has since held positions as the Director of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Deputy Minister, and Vice Chairman of the FSS.
Lee's term as chairman is for two years, from today until Feb. 2, 2027.
