Actress Park Hye-soo has embarked on a new challenge instead of continuing her work in the entertainment industry. After a long hiatus due to allegations of school violence, she announced her second start by directly managing a café in Paju.
On the 25th, actor Kim Jong-soo posted on his social media, along with a photo, stating, "Hye-soo is running a café in Paju. She creates the space herself and bakes both coffee and bread. May it prosper!" The published photo captures Kim Jong-soo, Park Hye-soo, and actress Lee Joo-young together. Park Hye-soo, wearing an apron, is smiling brightly, and the relaxed, warm atmosphere catches the eye. They have a connection from working together in the film 'Samjin Group English TOEIC Class.'
Park Hye-soo was embroiled in allegations of being involved in school violence just before the premiere of the KBS2 drama 'Dear.M' in 2021, leading her to completely suspend her activities. Park Hye-soo's side immediately denied the allegations, asserting, "It is groundless," but the controversy prolonged as the victims collectively demanded an apology.
As a result, 'Dear.M' was indefinitely postponed, and it was released in Japan before its domestic airing. It garnered attention when it was belatedly broadcast in Korea via KBS Joy in April of this year, about four years later.
Park Hye-soo cautiously made her return through the movie 'You and I,' which was released in 2023. At a press screening, she attended and stated, "I have worked my hardest to rectify the falsehoods during this time," adding, "Although the investigation is ongoing, my position remains unchanged. I will continue to strive to reveal the truth until the end."
Her agency also explained ahead of her return, "We are in the process of a criminal complaint case related to defamation, and evidence suggests that the accused has harmed the social reputation with false information, which has been referred to the prosecution with the opinion of indictment. Additional investigations are currently underway."
With the allegations of school violence not completely resolved, Park Hye-soo found it unavoidable to bear the burden of being in the public eye. However, she has actively engaged in promoting the movie, taking steps to clarify the misunderstandings surrounding her. "The investigation has been ongoing from the beginning until now. I hope everything is revealed soon," she expressed her frustrations.
Now, she is quietly walking her second path as a café owner. Park Hye-soo's recent activity, making coffee and bread herself and decorating the space by herself, is still welcomed news for those who support her.
