Actor Shim Hyung-tak, from 'The Return of Superman,' revealed a heart-wrenching family story while expressing deep love and gratitude for his wife.
On the 23rd, KBS2's entertainment show 'The Return of Superman' depicted Shim Hyung-tak, who joined as a new superman, caring for his 164-day-old son, 'Haru,' alone for the first time.
That day, although Shim Hyung-tak was clumsy with parenting, his earnest care for Haru warmed the hearts of viewers. Shim Hyung-tak recalled his wedding, saying, “Not a single person from my bloodline came to my wedding. I was alone.” He went on to say, “I was deeply hurt by my family and was in so much pain that I felt like I could die,” adding, “The person who gave me a ventilator back then was my wife. She helped me breathe again and gave me the great gift of Haru.”
He then vowed, “I want to live happily by forming a large family anew.” Viewers deeply empathized with his heartfelt confession that he found meaning in life again through his wife and child, after once being in despair.
In fact, Shim Hyung-tak has a tragic family story. In 2022, he was embroiled in a civil lawsuit demanding the repayment of debts totaling about 477 million won and interest with his mother. The plaintiff, Mr. A, claimed to have lent 300 million won to Shim Hyung-tak's mother and that he sent the money to Shim Hyung-tak's account.
He revealed that he even signed a 'joint guarantee confirmation,' but Shim Hyung-tak expressed his frustration, stating that he was unaware of all these facts. This incident appears to have been a significant psychological burden for Shim Hyung-tak and may have been a trigger for the severance of his relationship with his family.
