Actor and singer IU (Lee Ji-eun) won the Best Actress Award at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards for "When Life Gives You Tangerines," washing away the disappointment from the Baeksang Arts Awards.
On the 18th broadcast of KBS2TV's "4th Blue Dragon Series Awards," IU received the Best Actress Award for her performance in "When Life Gives You Tangerines." She perfectly portrayed two roles in the drama and received high praise. After winning, she shared her heartfelt thoughts, saying in a somewhat trembling voice, "I am truly grateful," adding, "This work will always be my greatest pride in life."
She continued, "It was an honor to be able to work with the When Life Gives You Tangerines team, and it was wonderful," recalling a memorable encore line from the drama that added more emotion. She also expressed, "Thanks to writer Lim Sang-chun, director Kim Won-seok, and all the cast and staff listed in the ending credits, I feel like I played the most significant role in my life."
IU also revealed her affection for the character she played, saying, "Thank you for entrusting me with the adorable and smart Oh Ae-sun," and expressed her respect and gratitude for all the Ae-sun girls living their lives more vividly than anyone else in a vague world and for those who have diligently planted and nurtured their own ambitions everywhere.
Earlier, IU was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards in May but did not win, leaving a sense of disappointment. Particularly, Park Bo-gum, who was also nominated, failed to win the Best Actor Award, resulting in the leads of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" returning empty-handed, which was regrettable. However, at this year's Blue Dragon Series Awards, IU thoroughly dismissed the disappointment of the day she handed the award to Kim Tae-ri.
Meanwhile, on the same day, IU also won the Upbit Popular Star Award. Alongside actors Park Bo-gum, Lee Joon-hyuk, and singer-actress Lee Hye-ri, she received the Popularity Award and expressed, "I sincerely thank everyone who loved 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' and my fans, 'Uena,' who are always with me."
