Comedian Mija has described Park Narae as her benefactor.
On the 16th, a video titled "The tumultuous life of Mija, who became a soju mukbang goddess after 3 years of depression (Jang Young-ran's tears, Mija's tavern, comedian Kim Tae-hyun)" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'A-class Jang Young-ran.'
That day, Mija, who is a graduate of Hongik University's Fine Arts Department, explained that she prepared to become a broadcaster for six years, was eliminated from the KBS public recruitment comedian selection, and then became an MBC public recruitment comedian. For a moment, she said, "It wasn't a place for me. And the military discipline was too strict, so I couldn’t stand it. Almost half of them quit, and I was the last to leave."
Jang Young-ran asked, "How hard is it to maintain military discipline in your thirties? What were you thinking at that time?" At that moment, Mija choked up and couldn't continue. Jang Young-ran encouraged her, saying, "Mija exists because she endured all that. Aren't you living the happiest life now?"
Then Mija confessed, "Suddenly, depression hit me. I lived truly diligently. I was like that during my school years, and even in college, I was often in the top 1-2 spots, receiving scholarships. While my friends were all out having fun and dating in their twenties, I was preparing to become a broadcaster, studying fiercely with seven study groups."
She continued, "Friends got jobs, got married, and were happy, but I had nothing left, no friends, and for about three years, I didn't go out at all. I just stayed in my room, and my parents were really struggling. I was very unfilial. At that time, I could only think of dying. That's how I felt back then."
Mija also recalled, "In the first 1-2 years, I was in a state where I could do nothing, and later, thinking I had to live, I worked part-time at a pub. Then the company recommended me for 'Drip Girls.' I had so many scars from broadcasting and didn't want to meet anyone in the industry anymore, so I rejected it, but since I had remaining contract time, I ended up doing it."
In particular, she revealed about Park Narae, "My family considers Narae a benefactor." She said, "I met Narae while doing 'Drip Girls.' Those who are famous in broadcasting talk among themselves, and naturally, groups form. So it was my daily life everywhere, but Narae was close with Senior Gukju and Doyeon, and I was the only one who didn't know that. She constantly called me 'Sister,' asking me to come to her house."
She continued, "Narae knew I had depression. She kept calling me, saying, 'Sister, you shouldn't be alone.' Back then, it was also a tough time for Narae. I have never met anyone like her while broadcasting. First, she took me with her, cooked for me with her own money, and from the refrigerator in her home to the kimchi fridge, she packed everything and sent it to me."
Jang Young-ran expressed admiration, saying, "That's why she is doing well." She asked, "Did you keep giving to Mija as well?" Mija added, "Meeting Narae made me discover the taste of alcohol. The company said, 'Don't you need to do something to make a living?' and that's how I started YouTube, and Narae had a big influence on the tavern being established."
