The agency of singer Kim Tae-yeon announced its decision to not participate in the Jangsu County local festival that caused controversy over the confusing booking with Girls' Generation's Taeyeon.
Kim Tae-yeon's agency, K Tigers Entertainment (hereafter referred to as Entertainment), expressed strong regret to Jangsu County on the 16th, stating, "Considering Kim Tae-yeon's mental stability as a priority, we have assessed the situation (the Jangsu County local festival) as unrelated to us and have decided not to involve ourselves in the related events."
K Tigers noted in the statement, "We would like to clarify our position regarding the Jangsu County local festival organized by the county office that has recently been mentioned in the media and online," and explained, "We have recently received a booking request for Kim Tae-yeon from the Jangsu County local festival through an officially contracted agency."
They continued, "Since it was a negotiation through formal channels, we confirmed the booking and later found an unrelated artist's photo of a namesake featured in the promotional materials (poster) for the event," adding, "However, subsequently, the Jangsu County office attempted to book another artist which did not materialize, and we also received their denial concerning Kim Tae-yeon's grants. We express our strong regret regarding this matter."
In particular, the agency stated, "Kim Tae-yeon has experienced great confusion and injury through this incident. It is very unfortunate and regrettable that she has been embroiled in such a perplexing and irresponsible situation during a time when she is seriously proving herself on stage." They emphasized, "Considering Kim Tae-yeon's mental stability as a priority, we have concluded that this situation is unrelated to us, regardless of the facts, and decided not to engage in the related events."
Additionally, K Tigers emphasized, "We will do our best to ensure that artist Kim Tae-yeon can continue her activities in a healthy environment," and added, "We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused and urge the organizers to respond more prudently to prevent similar cases in the future."
Born in 2012, Kim Tae-yeon is a prodigy in traditional Korean music, having started pansori and folk songs at the age of 4. She gained recognition for placing 4th in the TV Chosun entertainment program 'Miss Trot 2'. Recently, she accepted a booking request for the local festival 'Jangsu Hanwoo and Apples Festival' taking place in Jangsu County. However, after the event lineup was announced, a poster revealing that it would be Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, not Kim Tae-yeon, who would perform was shared online, sparking controversy. In relation to this, Girls' Generation's Taeyeon stated that she had not been contacted regarding a booking, and while Kim Tae-yeon's side confirmed the participation, Jangsu County office denied the booking of Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, causing further conflict.
The following is the full official statement from Kim Tae-yeon's side regarding the Jangsu County local festival.
Hello, this is K Tigers Entertainment.
First of all, we would like to clarify our position regarding the Jangsu County local festival organized by the county office that has recently been mentioned in the media and online.
We have recently received a booking request for Kim Tae-yeon from the Jangsu County local festival through an officially contracted agency. Since it was a negotiation through formal channels, we confirmed the booking and learned that an unrelated artist's photo of a namesake was featured in the promotional materials (poster) for the event.
However, subsequently, the Jangsu County office attempted to book another artist which did not materialize, and we also received their denial concerning Kim Tae-yeon's grants.
We express our strong regret regarding this matter.
Kim Tae-yeon has experienced great confusion and injury through this incident. It is very unfortunate and regrettable that she has been embroiled in such a perplexing and irresponsible situation during a time when she is seriously proving herself on stage.
Accordingly, we are prioritizing Kim Tae-yeon's mental stability and have assessed this situation as unrelated to us, regardless of the facts, and decided not to engage in the related events.
In the future, we will do our best to ensure that artist Kim Tae-yeon can continue her activities in a healthy environment. We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused and urge the organizers to respond more prudently to prevent similar cases in the future.
