Actor Choo Young-Woo is cleverly leading the 'balance beam' of playing two roles.
Choo Young-Woo has perfectly balanced his performances while freely switching between the charms of 'Baek Gyeon-Woo' and 'Bong-Soo' in the recently aired tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' (directed by Kim Yong-Wan, written by Yang Ji-Hoon, planned by CJ ENM, produced by Studio Dragon, DEXTER, and EO Contents Group).
In the drama, Choo Young-Woo takes on the role of Baek Gyeon-Woo, who is destined to die, delicately portraying the highs and lows of his emotions and bringing vitality to the character. Baek Gyeon-Woo, who was always on guard against his misfortune affecting others, gradually opened his heart after meeting his first love, Park Seong-A (played by Cho Yi-Hyun), at the age of eighteen. Notably, Baek Gyeon-Woo captivated the audience by earnestly confessing his feelings.
Bong-Soo is a being created by Yeom-Hwa (played by Cho Ja-Hyun) to serve as a vessel. Bong-Soo and Baek Gyeon-Woo share the same face, but they have completely opposite personalities. Behind his innocent smile, there are unknown motives concealed. Bong-Soo speaks harshly to everyone, refreshing the mood of the drama with his 'strong against the weak' demeanor. Amid this, Bong-Soo, traumatized by gunfire, cries like a child, heightening curiosity about his past.
In this way, Choo Young-Woo skillfully varied his gaze, expressions, and voice, clearly distinguishing the contrasts between the two characters. He compellingly portrayed Baek Gyeon-Woo, who has fought against misfortune for a long time, and cleverly highlighted the carefree yet secretive nature of Bong-Soo, adding to the drama's enjoyment. In the final broadcast, a glimpse of Baek Gyeon-Woo, who has been awakened in both the spiritual and physical senses, raises expectations for Choo Young-Woo's future performances.
Meanwhile, the tvN 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy,' featuring Choo Young-Woo, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m.
