Hanni said, “It's not a life that goes as I wish”… In her first confession after the controversy involving Yang Jae-woong, she noted, “I was scared of what would happen if they laughed and said I was a failure.”
Hanni of EXID honestly revealed the pain and fear she has been harboring.
On the 14th, during her appearance on MBN's 'Oh Eun-young Stay,' Hanni confessed her feelings with the keyword 'narcissism.'
That day, Hanni stated, “I want to stop being so aware of others, but I find myself checking my surroundings out of habit,” noting, “Over the past few years, I've realized that my life does not go as I wish.”
Hanni stopped her activities after a patient death incident occurred at a hospital operated by her boyfriend, Yang Jae-woong, last May. After the incident, the couple, who had promised to marry, indefinitely postponed their wedding, and Hanni also dropped out of the scheduled program. Although she was not a party to the incident, she faced criticism and suffered from malicious comments.
Hanni confessed, “These days, I often use public transportation, and I think, ‘What if they think I failed?’” adding, “I was scared someone would not laugh at me if they met me. Even if I tried to hide it, it was hard to avoid eye contact. I tried to act composed but it was difficult.”
She continued, “I started my career as an entertainer too early. After my contract ended, I realized I didn’t know the world and that I had lived like a frog in a well,” adding, “There were times when I couldn't even answer who I really was.”
During that time, Hanni made efforts to find herself. She said, “I began practicing meditation and went on temple stays with a backpack,” and recalled, “I even visited Dharamsala, India. The monk I met there told me, ‘Don’t try to give me what you want,’ and I broke down in tears when I heard that.”
She conveyed her desire, saying, “I am slowly finding myself. I want to live as my true self,” and Hanni's image of quietly overcoming the past resonated deeply with the viewers.
