(Following Interview 1) ASTRO member Yoon San-ha supported his fellow member Cha Eun-woo, who is set to enlist.
Yoon San-ha will release a mini-album titled 'CHAMELEON' today (15th). This is his second mini-album, coming 11 months after his solo debut, and just like the characteristic of a chameleon that changes color according to its surroundings, it contains his ever-changing musical world. Ahead of the album release, I met Yoon San-ha on the 3rd at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to hear about the album and his current situation.
Regarding the title track 'EXTRA VIRGIN,' he mentioned that he considered the included track 'Bad Mosquito' as well, saying, "When I thought about it alone, 'Bad Mosquito' was an extension of Moonbin & San-ha, and I felt that 'EXTRA VIRGIN' could show a new song that fits between a boy and an adult. The first one is a sexy stage, and the second seems more focused on popularity, but when I played them for the members, including the older ones, they said, 'Both are disappointing.' The members are particularly sensitive about song selection," he revealed.
He continued, "However, Eun-woo hyung said something. 'EXTRA VIRGIN' portrays the image of the maknae shown as an ASTRO member, and it feels like I'm going back to that time now that I have grown up. He said he hopes to do 'Bad Mosquito' in three years, wanting to do it when it has more of an adult vibe," and laughed while stating, "I actually get swayed easily by the opinions of the hyungs. Being the maknae, there were many times my opinions did not get expressed. Nevertheless, I respect the hyungs' opinions. When I followed them, there were many good reactions."
Additionally, Yoon San-ha mentioned, "Later, during a hotel room service in Japan, while filming and recording the music video, the hyungs asked me to show it to them first. After I showed it, they reacted, 'It turned out well?', and I realized that my confidence is important. I felt that when I get swayed by someone else's words, the energy doesn't come out as much. I have to be sure that I should go with this song 100%. I felt that the energy differs when the presentation is uncertain versus when it is shown with confidence."
In this context, while sharing various advice among the members, Cha Eun-woo is in a situation where he is about to enlist. He is set to enlist in the Army's military band on the 28th. In this regard, Yoon San-ha shared, "I jokingly told him to go well in front of the hyung. When he struggles during concerts, I teased him saying, 'Just hang in there, you can rest on stage (in the military),' and he laughed."
Yoon San-ha confessed, "Actually, now that I'm doing individual activities, I won't be beside them, but since all the members are nocturnal, when they wake up from sleep and call, it's frequent for us to meet urgently with conversations like, 'What are you doing? Come out.' But now, I don't think that will happen anymore. I think I'll miss the absence of the people I used to be with." He also added, "However, we are supporting each other even while doing individual activities, so I think I will work harder with that energy."
He said, "Hyung's leaving is an opportunity. I think my chance will come. Hyung also jokingly says, 'Hurry and catch up. You don't have much time left,'" adding with a smile, "Hyung has been very busy since debuting, and I hope Eun-woo hyung can go and rest a bit. Of course, there will be tough moments, but at least I hope it will be a time when he can relax without worrying about schedules."
