Hanni, a former member of EXID, candidly revealed her feelings for the first time after the controversy, declaring her 'courage to be disliked.'
On the 14th, MBN's 'Oh Eun-young Stay' featured Hanni, with 'social awareness' as a keyword, where she shared her hidden thoughts. Hanni carefully spoke, saying, "I tend to be very observant of others' feelings.
Hanni confessed, "I have been good at sensing others' emotions since I was young. Even when it’s not my responsibility, I feel like I need to take the burden on, and I felt anxious that something would go wrong if I wasn't aware. Now, I want to let go of those feelings.
In particular, she expressed her honest struggles, saying, "I want to distance myself from others' feelings and focus more on myself." She continued, "This appearance on Stay is a declaration within me," and said confidently, "Now, I want to muster the courage to be disliked." When Yoo Se-yoon remarked, "You look comfortable just sitting there," Hanni laughed and replied, "I was worried people might feel uncomfortable, so I was mindful of my posture, but today, I want to try to be brave.
Hanni added, "As I decided to let go of my worries while participating in this program, I felt that change began," stating, "I drew strength from hearing Dr. Oh Eun-young say, 'It’s okay to live that way.' It feels like each little worry and doubt is fading away.
Hanni's confession resonates even more as it is her first heartfelt expression since the incident involving her partner, Yang Jae-woong, at the hospital last year. While dealing with a hiatus and suffering from negative comments, Hanni has concentrated on 'the process of finding myself' during that time.
At one point, she couldn’t even take public transportation comfortably, saying, "I thought, 'What if someone sees me and laughs, saying I've failed?' and pretended to be composed," revealing her deep anxieties.
However, now Hanni says, "I will live as the person I want to be, not the one others want," gradually reclaiming her life. And the beginning of that is, in fact, having the 'courage to be disliked.'
