'CEO' Song Eun-yi hit the jackpot. Tony Award-winning musical writer Park Cheon-hyu signed an exclusive contract with Media Lab Siso.
On the 15th, Media Lab Siso said, “In June, we recently signed an exclusive contract with writer Park Cheon-hyu, who achieved the remarkable feat of winning six Tony Awards with 'Maybe Happy Ending.' We hope you will look forward to and pay affectionate attention to Park Cheon-hyu's unique charms. We will spare no effort in providing full support to ensure his creativity shines even more brightly in collaboration with Media Lab Siso.”
Media Lab Siso, which signed an exclusive contract with writer Park Cheon-hyu, is a planning company established by comedian Song Eun-yi. In addition to CEO Song Eun-yi, broadcasters including Shin Bong-seon, Ahn Young-mi, Jang Hang-jun, Kwon Il-yong, Kim Soo-yong, Jo Hye-ryun, Park So-ra, and Hwang Jeong-hye are affiliated with the company, along with various actors such as Bong Tae-gyu, Kim Sung-beom, Lim Hyeong-jun, Kim Gi-ri, Cha Seon-woo, Bae Je-gi, Ok Ja-yeon, Lee Da-eun, Choi Kang-hee, and Jeon Mi-do who share the same agency.
Song Eun-yi is recognized not only as a broadcaster but also as a CEO for her exceptional planning skills and talent recruitment outlook. In the past, he expressed regret over not being able to sign an exclusive contract with Yoo Jae-suk, saying, “If I had known I would go to a company as small as Antenna, I would have held on tightly,” showcasing his commitment to aggressively expanding the size of the company.
In a swift move, he embraced writer Park Cheon-hyu. Building trust in the industry by encompassing talents across a wide range of fields from entertainment to drama, film, and performing arts, Song Eun-yi is expected to diversify the content lineup of Media Lab Siso even more through this exclusive contract with writer Park Cheon-hyu.
Meanwhile, writer Park Cheon-hyu has written the scripts and lyrics for musicals including 'Bungee Jumping of Their Own,' 'Maybe Happy Ending,' and 'Il Tenore.' He won the Best Composition and Lyrics award at the 2013 The Musical Awards for 'Bungee Jumping of Their Own' and won the Best Script and Lyrics award at the 2018 Korean Musical Awards for 'Maybe Happy Ending,' along with the Grand Prize at this year's Korean Musical Awards for 'Il Tenore.'
'Maybe Happy Ending' was nominated in 10 institutional sectors at the Tony Awards held in June, one of the four major awards considered a grand slam in American popular culture, and won a total of six awards (Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score/Lyrics, Best Direction, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Scenic Design), marking a significant milestone in Korea's musical history. In particular, this is the first time a Korean creator has won a Tony Award for a musical created in Korea, adding to its significance.
Recently, he also participated in the event 'The Dream of a Cultural Powerhouse, Korea Moving Toward the World,' hosted by the presidential office, which invited cultural and artistic figures who have elevated our culture to a global level.
