Lee Sugeun from 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller' recalled his wife while looking at a person suffering from chronic kidney disease.
On the 14th broadcast of KBS Joy's entertainment program 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller,' a woman undergoing dialysis treatment for chronic kidney disease appeared and shared her realistic struggles. The mother of four children said, "After giving birth to my first child, I was told that my kidney function had dropped. Then, after having my second child through in vitro fertilization, my symptoms worsened."
He then shared, "While raising my first and second children, I secretly visited the hospital to undergo in vitro fertilization due to my desire for a son, and I ended up having twin sons," surprising everyone.
In response to this story, Lee Sugeun expressed sympathy, noting, "It's the same with my wife's illness." He said, "It's not easy to just say to receive treatment. Without dialysis, one cannot maintain life, and this is a challenging illness that warrants a disability rating."
In fact, Lee Sugeun's wife experienced kidney problems due to pregnancy complications during her second pregnancy and received a kidney transplant from her father in 2011. She has been undergoing dialysis three times a week for over 10 years and is now preparing to receive a re-transplant from her biological brother. Even after the transplant, she has suffered from reduced function and side effects from injections, and it is known that she continues to endure a long battle with illness.
The woman shared, "I have no siblings, so getting a kidney transplant is difficult, and I have to wait for a brain-dead donor, which I've heard can take 10 years," adding, "My husband is solely responsible for our livelihood, so I'm careful not to bring up the topic of treatment anymore."
Lee Sugeun asked, "Does your father have to work, and is it okay to take care of the kids?" The woman replied, "My mother-in-law is helping us." The eldest daughter, who also appeared, honestly shared, "Whenever my mom comes home from dialysis, she looks exhausted and often gets angry."
In response, Lee Sugeun gently reassured, "It's not that she hates her daughter; it's just that she's too exhausted. She tried to suppress her feelings, but that's not easy."
