Singer BoA has made a hasty decision to cancel her 25th anniversary solo concert, just a month before the event. The reason is a diagnosis of acute osteonecrosis in her knee area, prompting BoA to cancel the tour and undergo surgery.
On the 15th, her agency SM Entertainment issued an official statement saying, 'We regret to inform you that it will be difficult to hold BoA's fifth solo concert due to health reasons for the artist.'
The agency noted, 'BoA has received a diagnosis of acute osteonecrosis, which requires surgical treatment, from the hospital she visited due to her recently worsening knee pain. According to the medical team's opinion, to prevent the progression of the disease, she must refrain from strenuous physical activity, such as dancing and performances, and proceed with surgery as soon as possible.'
As a result, BoA's fifth concert, which was scheduled for August 30-31, has been inevitably canceled. Furthermore, the planned tour in Japan from September to November has also been halted. The agency expressed, 'We deeply apologize for causing concern to the fans with this sudden news, and as this decision was made with the artist's health as the top priority, we kindly ask for your understanding.'
Additionally, the agency stated, 'As this year marks a significant year for BoA's 25th anniversary, we plan to release the album, which has already been completed, as scheduled without changes, for the fans who have been eagerly waiting.' They added, 'The possibility of holding future concerts will be re-announced based on the artist's recovery progress after surgery.'
Following the agency's announcement, content from a behind-the-scenes video posted on BoA's official YouTube channel on the 2nd of this month has been reevaluated.
Ahead of her performance at the 2025 Weverse Con Festival held in May, BoA mentioned after finishing her rehearsal while eating, 'I can really feel my age now. My knees hurt while dancing lately. I just finished rehearsal, and my knees are really hurting.' Fans have speculated that this could be not just aging-related knee injuries but rather early warning signs of the 'acute osteonecrosis diagnosis.'
Meanwhile, BoA debuted in 2000 at the age of 13 with hits such as 'No.1,' 'Valenti,' 'Atlantis Princess,' 'Girls On Top,' 'Hurricane Venus,' and 'Only One.' Recently, she showcased her abilities as a producer by working with the group N.TIC Wish and has also served as a judge on multiple audition programs.
