Hwa Sa, from 'Crazy Rich Korean,' mentioned the 'obscenity controversy' that has been troubling her, shedding tears.
The episode of KBS 2TV's 'Crazy Rich Korean' aired on the 13th, featuring Hwa Sa's life during her tour in the United States, where she revealed her feelings regarding the 'obscenity controversy.'
Previously, Hwa Sa faced a crisis of canceling her performance due to a toe fracture issue ahead of her U.S. tour. When a video of Hwa Sa walking with assistance from both sides was released, she stated, 'I dropped a weight on my toe two months before the U.S. tour.'
She continued, 'I really cried because I was so scared when I hurt my toe. They say life is the scariest, and I’m not afraid of ghosts. But when I hurt my toe, the world felt so terrifying. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to perform again.'
Fortunately, Hwa Sa recovered faster than anyone else. She recalled, 'They said I healed the fastest since the hospital opened. It’s amazing what the human body can do. I thought to myself that I have to recover within a month with this toe. It’s strange how reaching that goal leads to unbelievable events. It felt like my bones were going crazy.'
In particular, on this day, Hwa Sa reflected on the incident where she was reported by the Korean Parents and Students Protection Coalition for causing discomfort to viewers due to her performance at a university festival last May. Ultimately, the 'obscenity controversy' ended with the police investigation concluding with 'no charges.'
Showing her distress, Hwa Sa said, 'When the criticism peaked, I received a text from my mom for the first time. She asked, 'Is our daughter okay?' It was the first time my mom asked. That message made my heart feel torn apart.'
She also said, 'When I was young, I danced alone on the playground, so my mom and dad didn’t understand me. My mom didn’t understand me when I was young, so I thought, how could others understand me? Then my mom said, 'Yes, I’m proud of my daughter,' which made everyone laugh.
Hwa Sa expressed that the reason she was able to endure such situations was thanks to the staff who quietly supported her. She said, 'I secretly cried a lot. I’m grateful,' and soon broke down in tears.
She even mentioned experiencing a panic attack, saying, 'When I suddenly felt unstable at the Turkish airport, my sisters hugged me at the same time, without lying. That’s when the tears burst out.' She expressed gratitude, saying she felt that her sisters unconsciously wanted to protect her.
Hwa Sa said, 'Being a person, there are times when I feel unstable. I don't know why, but there are moments when it feels hard to breathe.' She added, 'Whenever it happens, if someone hugs me, the anxiety subsides. My sisters knew that, so they ran to me at the airport and hugged me.'
Amidst all this, Hwa Sa attracted attention by confessing that she does not remember the last 10 years. She said, 'I don’t remember well. I think it’s because of the busy lifestyle. I don’t remember well.'
