Actress Lee Si-young has revealed her current situation while staying in the U.S. with her first son, after getting divorced and being pregnant with her second child.
On the 12th, Lee posted several photos and videos with the caption, "It's the second week at uncle Jung-yoon's house."
The shared photos and videos depict Lee staying at a relative's house in the U.S. with her first son. Lee spent a leisurely time at her son Jung-yoon's uncle's house, while Jung-yoon adjusted to life in the U.S. by taking the school bus.
In particular, focusing solely on her role as a mother rather than as an actress, Lee carefully asked her son, "How many friends have you made?" and personally took care of his school bus rides.
Earlier, on the 8th, Lee announced on social media, "I am currently pregnant," revealing that she had unilaterally implanted the embryo from in vitro fertilization attempted during her marriage without her ex-husband's consent immediately after the divorce.
She said, "The other party did not agree, but I intend to bear the weight of the decision I made on my own," adding, "I will live responsibly so that my child lacks nothing, even alone."
Her agency also confirmed to OSEN, "It is true that Lee Si-young is pregnant recently," acknowledging that the father of the second child is her ex-husband, but requested to refrain from further comments on her private life.
However, as the fact that the in vitro fertilization was performed without her ex-husband's consent became known, discussions on legal issues and bioethics ensued online. Experts mentioned issues such as embryo ownership, acknowledgment procedures, and parental responsibilities, while celebrities like Seo Hyo-rim, Jeon Hye-bin, and Bae Seul-ki left supportive comments. Others, including DinDin, former Crayon Pop member ChoA, Swings, Ki Eun-se, and So Yoo-jin, expressed their support for Lee Si-young's courageous choice by liking the post.
However, perhaps due to the ongoing debate, Lee eventually deleted her pregnancy announcement post.
