Actor Jung Il-woo revealed the reason and appeal for choosing 'Glamorous Days,' raising expectations for the first broadcast.
KBS 2TV's new weekend drama 'Glamorous Days' (directed by Kim Hyung-seok / written by So Hyun-kyung / produced by Studio Coming Soon, Studio Bom, Monster Union) tells a generationally relatable family melodrama story about 'humans having glamorous days, no matter when—now, in the past, or in the future. Glamorous days encountered each with different meanings.'
In the drama, Jung Il-woo plays Lee Ji-hyuk, a proactive and cold-headed character recognized as competent in all aspects, whether in work or romance. He portrays the typical MZ generation who, despite his humorous and glamorous appearance, has experienced the lows of life and overcomes trials. Expectations rise for how Jung Il-woo will express this realistic Ji-hyuk character who smiles on the outside but is constantly thinking and wavering inside.
Ahead of the first broadcast, Jung Il-woo said, 'As soon as I read the script, I felt a warm emotion that touched my heart, and I thought I definitely wanted to try this. As I followed one person's life, I found it a work that quietly conveys emotions of happiness and pain, which drew me in more.'
He added, 'For the character to shine, I tried a short haircut for the first time. I completed an overall styling that reflects a neat and realistic style, fitting my active personality, and especially paid special attention to acting tones so that I could communicate more through my eyes and breathing than lines,' showcasing his complete immersion into the character.
Jung Il-woo expressed Lee Ji-hyuk with three keywords: 'default toughness,' 'inner turmoil artisan,' and 'apathetic nurturer.' He explained, 'Ji-hyuk is a person whose default is tough without even trying. And although he pretends to be okay on the outside, he is inwardly an 'inner turmoil artisan,' quietly suffering and organizing himself. He also has warmth and care that subtly protects others within seemingly careless words.'
He also did not forget to mention the chemistry with the co-actors. He noted, 'The teamwork is great. Especially with actress Jung In-sun, we share similar emotional tones, which makes it comfortable and helps me immerse myself. I hope that kind of emotional chemistry is well conveyed to the viewers.'
Finally, Jung Il-woo added, 'Everyone endures and lives each day in their own way. 'Glamorous Days' is a story about emotions encountered in ordinary daily life and the relationships and changes that bloom within them. There will surely be a moment that resonates with you while watching the drama. I am pouring my sincerity into the character Ji-hyuk, so I hope you will watch over him beautifully.'
KBS 2TV's new weekend drama 'Glamorous Days' will air its first episode on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 8 p.m., following 'For Eagle Brothers.'
