Park Eun-young, a year ago, tearful struggles turned into a miraculous second pregnancy, "a gift that came at 44."
Broadcaster Park Eun-young announced the miraculous news of her second pregnancy after a heartfelt confession a year ago. It was not an easy journey, with the significant decision of undergoing in vitro fertilization at the age of 44. However, her earnest desire ultimately returned as new life.
Last August, Park Eun-young first confessed her deep desire for a second child through her YouTube channel "Anamorna Park Eun-young." In that video, she revealed, "I have a wish to have one more child. I wanted to be prepared because I might eventually regret not having more than one. This is why I cautiously visited the obstetrics and gynecology clinic."
However, reality was not easy. Tests revealed that her ovarian age was one year older than her actual age, at 45, and both the quantity and quality of her eggs had significantly declined. Moreover, unexpected uterine polyps were discovered, and Park Eun-young couldn't hide her anxiety, saying, "Hearing this in my 40s is so scary."
A bigger barrier was her husband's opposition. "I tried to persuade him to at least freeze embryos, but he was firm," she opened up, adding that she had also thought, "Should we be satisfied with just Bambin?" Time passed with tearful struggles, and discussions about a second child seemed to pause.
Then, in July 2025, a year later, Park Eun-young appeared on YouTube again. This time, it was with joyful news. "I am 11 weeks pregnant. I’m 44, which is considered advanced maternal age. I was approaching menopause but became pregnant through in vitro fertilization," she announced.
Of course, the journey to pregnancy was not easy. In the first attempt, she ended up with 0 eggs, and although she retrieved 2 eggs afterward, fertilization failed. However, Park Eun-young did not give up. For a remarkable 5 months, she consistently tried to collect eggs, and eventually secured 9 embryos, leading to her successful pregnancy after the first transfer in April.
Experiencing severe morning sickness, Park Eun-young shared, "With my first child, Bambin, it was short and intense, but this time, I've been feeling unwell and dizzy for over a month," realizing that her body is not the same as before. Nevertheless, she expressed her gratitude, stating, "My mother has four children, my sister has three, and my brother has two, but I’ve always wished for more than just one child. It was a challenge I started with that hope, and I’m so thankful that a second child is coming to us."
Meanwhile, Park Eun-young, a former KBS announcer, married businessman Kim Hyung-woo, who is three years younger, in 2019. She gave birth to her first son, Bambin, in 2021, and is now receiving much support and congratulations from many for her second pregnancy.
