As FT Island member Choi Min-hwan prepares for a domestic return with a concert in August, Lee Hong-gi shared his feelings with fans.
On the 9th, Lee Hong-gi said through the fan community platform Weverse, "Thanks for all the effort in ticketing!! I'm grateful, you've had many worries and concerns, but I’ll prepare to have fun," and greeted, "It's Hong night again today."
FT Island, to which Lee Hong-gi belongs, will hold a solo concert titled 2025 FTISLAND LIVE 'MAD HAPPY' at Bluesquare SOL Travel Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, from August 23 to 24, where they will meet with fans.
The agency FNC announced the concert to fans, adding, "This performance is expected to feature Lee Hong-gi, Lee Jae-jin, and Choi Min-hwan, so please refer to this when making reservations." This formalizes Choi Min-hwan's return after only participating in overseas performances.
Previously, Choi Min-hwan suspended his activities due to revelations from his ex-wife Yul-hee in October of last year. At that time, Choi Min-hwan was reported for violation of the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Trafficking and Statutory Rape, and in February, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul ruled that there was insufficient evidence regarding Choi Min-hwan's violation of the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Trafficking and Statutory Rape, resulting in a decision not to forward the case to the prosecution.
However, due to the controversy, Choi Min-hwan paused his domestic activities for several months. FT Island continued to perform as a trio overseas, but activities in Korea were conducted by only Lee Hong-gi and Lee Jae-jin. Lee Hong-gi, who had defended Choi Min-hwan, left open the possibility of a trio return in Korea, stating, "Over time, I will reflect and prepare so that we can return as a trio in Korea."
In June, Lee Jae-jin and Lee Hong-gi hinted at Choi Min-hwan's return during a live broadcast celebrating their 18th debut anniversary, and the news of Choi Min-hwan's return was revealed through the solo concert announcement.
Afterward, Lee Hong-gi, who had not shown any particular stance, confessed his honest feelings to the fans, raising curiosity about whether Choi Min-hwan would also speak up during the solo concert.
