In her anger, Lee Young-ji started a live broadcast to caution against counterfeit products before purchasing."
Recently, Lee Young-ji did an unboxing of the popular character 'Rabubu' random box through her personal social media account. "I really want the secret one. Since I'll be gifting the other three, I can only unbox one, so guess which one is the secret," she said while unboxing one box.
The box she unboxed revealed a hidden character, surprising her. However, Lee Young-ji soon realized, "There's supposed to be an authenticity scratch under the QR code, but there isn’t, and there’s no KARD either," recognizing that her purchased 'Rabubu' was a counterfeit. Lee Young-ji expressed, "I’m really, really angry. That’s why I had no choice but to do a live broadcast. Please don’t sell counterfeits," warning while barely holding back her anger.
Lee Young-ji was bewildered that her counterfeit victimization case was featured in Taiwanese news. She expressed her surprise on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "The news came out because I bought a counterfeit. It’s real. It’s not even Korean news."
'Rabubu' is a character that has gained significant popularity both domestically and internationally, and it is a representative doll sold by a Chinese toy corporation. Currently, it is so popular that there is a shortage crisis, but as its popularity has increased, there are also many places making and selling counterfeits.
Not only Lee Young-ji but also ILLIT's Won-hee was a victim of the counterfeit. Won-hee couldn't hide her disappointment, saying, "The box looked real," and was further shocked by the poor design that made it obvious it was not authentic.
