Actor Jin Tae-hyun reported on his recovery after surgery for thyroid cancer.
On the 10th, a video titled "Park Si-eun Jin Tae-hyun's cancer surgery recovery story: I’ve come back well!" was uploaded on the 'Park Si-eun Jin Tae-hyun Small TV' channel.
That day, Park Si-eun congratulated Jin Tae-hyun, saying "congratulations" on successfully completing his thyroid cancer surgery. Jin Tae-hyun stated, "I think we have been taking a break from YouTube for almost two months.
He continued, "The last video at that time was titled 'I have cancer,' but now I have returned with a video to tell you all that I have been cured of cancer."
He said, "The past two months have been spectacular. I want to talk about everything from being hospitalized, the surgery, to the recovery afterward. Regarding how I’ve been, the surgery went very well, and I am currently recovering. It's been two weeks since the surgery, and I just came back from a clinic visit where I had my first examination. To tell you the result, my thyroid levels are normal. And I underwent a partial resection. However, the thyroid tissue where the cancer cells were found was 100% cancerous. Fortunately, there has been no metastasis. Even though I had a partial resection, sometimes people have to take medication for life. For now, my levels are normal, so I don't need to take any medication."
He added, "And I have a scar on my neck. I didn't have robot-assisted surgery. The reason I didn’t was that I wanted to keep the scar. People might want to hide it, but I wanted to remember by seeing it. I wanted to live more humbly, looking towards God, and that’s why I kept it. But the scar is healing very nicely. And the most important thing is this: there are times when thyroid cancer can metastasize to lymph nodes or other areas, including the trachea. In such cases, it becomes dangerous. But fortunately, there has been no metastasis, and everything was cleaned up cleanly during the surgery, so there was no need for chemotherapy. After the thyroid cancer surgery, many people are curious and worried, but my vocal cords and voice are completely normal."
Park Si-eun remarked, "You have to walk to recover quickly," and Jin Tae-hyun mentioned, "The anesthesia gas needs to leave my body, but that took a bit longer for me. And right after being discharged, just three days later, I went for a walk with Si-eun at Namsan and kept walking. Staying still can help recovery, but being too still might hinder it. You need to adapt to your own physical strength. I find that works for my body."
In particular, Park Si-eun expressed concern, stating, "The surgery went very well, but the surgery took longer than expected, which made me anxious. From my position waiting, I worried because there was no communication that it was over. A million thoughts crossed my mind, but the doctors assured me that it took longer to do it carefully, for which I am very grateful. They did it very cleanly, and he came back well from the surgery. Now, there should be no cancer in the body. However, I need to manage it well since there is only one side left."
In response, Jin Tae-hyun said, "I am currently not resting from exercise. I will challenge myself in a marathon in the second half of the year," drawing attention with his statement, "I also want to try something with my eyes." Park Si-eun laughed, saying, "Are you resting anyway since you can't run?" And Jin Tae-hyun replied, "I also want to fix everything about my body while I'm at it. So I plan to use my body for another 10 years." He added, "If any of you are feeling unwell, please seek treatment quickly and stay healthy."
