Completing a universal narrative that transcends generations with advanced technology, the global K-animation 'The King of Kings' successfully held its VIP screening on July 9 (Wed).
The global box office success K-animation 'The King of Kings,' portraying a journey into the greatest story of 2000 years ago by the outstanding British writer Charles Dickens alongside his youngest son Walter, successfully held its VIP screening on July 9 (Wed) at the Coex Megabox.
At this VIP screening, director Zhang Seong-ho, along with co-producer and cinematographer Kim Woo-hyung, and actors Yang Dong-geun, Kwon Oh-jung, and Jang Kwang attended to light up the event.
First, director Zhang Seong-ho, who handled the screenplay, direction, and production of the film, noted, 'I wasn’t nervous when it was released in the U.S., but I am more anxious as the Korean release approaches,' adding, 'We have done our best to create a film worth seeing in theaters, so I hope you will come and check it out.'
Cinematographer Kim Woo-hyung, a co-producer of the film, recalled the moment when it set the all-time record for Korean films at the North American box office, saying, 'I don’t remember exactly how I felt, but I think the words, “Wow, that’s amazing,” just came out.'
Yang Dong-geun, who plays the role of 'Peter,' expressed, 'I feel severely honored to be part of the film. It felt like crossing the five oceans barefoot,' and showcased strong confidence stating, 'This is a work that will overturn the landscape of Korean cinema.' Kwon Oh-jung, who portrays 'King Herod,' said, 'This is a film that every living being should see,' revealing his affection for the work, while Jang Kwang, who plays the 'High Priest,' expressed his hopes saying, 'As an actor aiming for ten million viewers, I hope this film becomes another ten million film.'
During the subsequent stage greeting, Lee Ha-nui, who plays 'Catherine Dickens,' joined in to express heartfelt gratitude, warming up the scene. Actors, the director, and production staff took a group photo with the packed audience in the theater, conveying their warm appreciation to those who attended the screening.
Numerous celebrities graced the VIP screening to support the film 'The King of Kings.' Broadcast personality Jun Hyun-moo, singers Kim Jong-min, Baek Ji-young, Bumkey, Sunye, Sohyang, and Ali, along with history instructor Seol Min-seok, and comedians Song Eun-i, Lee Seong-mi, Lee Hong-ryeol, Kim Han-seok, dancer Bata, and creator Supperman from various fields all attended, drawing attention. Additionally, couples or families like Song Ji-eun and Park Wi, Haha and Byul, actor Oh Ji-ho's family, Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi's family, and comedian Kim Hyo-jin's family, reaffirmed that 'The King of Kings' is a work that connects all generations with emotion and empathy.
The global K-animation 'The King of Kings,' which has been receiving positive reviews from celebrities through the VIP screening, will be available in theaters nationwide starting July 16.
