SBS 'Whenever Possible' (directed by Choi Bo-pil, written by Chae Jin-ah) is a variety show that gifts luck during the fleeting moments of everyday life. In the 29th episode, which aired on the 8th, hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok, along with 'friend of the show' Choi Jiwoo, visited Yangjae-dong, offering heartfelt laughter and luck.
From the moment she appeared, Choi Jiwoo sparked laughter with her pure and down-to-earth demeanor. Choi Jiwoo expressed joy at meeting Yoo Jae-suk again after some time, saying, "I seem to appear with Jae-suk oppa whenever forgotten." When Yoo Jae-suk reminisced, saying, "I can't forget Jiwoo. She was a guest during my public comedy supporting role phase," Choi Jiwoo showed a puzzled expression, asking, "Me?" This caught Yoo Jae-suk off guard. When Choi Jiwoo reassured, "I guess it was because I was from MBC," Yoo Jae-suk responded, "Isn't Won-bin also from public auditions?" Choi Jiwoo firmly replied, "I wasn't from public auditions," and playfully added, "Oppa, your information is a bit thin," which made Yoo Jae-suk burst out laughing.
The three then visited a sound effects studio. The actual recording site of the two sound designers, who worked on over 100 films including 'The Disposition of Death,' 'Seoul's Spring,' and 'Parasite,' surprised everyone. Notably, the two, who have been friends for 12 years, pointed out bed scenes as the most challenging to record, explaining, "We do it while physically interacting or eating ice cream," before adding, "It's not easy to watch (while recording)," showcasing reality banter that provoked laughter.
The first game the trio challenged was 'Who are you, you...!' where they had to guess the actor based on famous lines. Choi Jiwoo, feeling nervous during the game, kept giving wrong answers, exclaiming, "I must be out of my mind. I feel like I can't go out with this. Let's re-shoot!" In response, Yoo Jae-suk laughed and said, "What will we do if it doesn’t air this week!" There was even a moment when Yoo Yeon-seok misquoted Lee Byung-hun's line from his show 'Mr. Sunshine,' and Yoo Jae-suk and Choi Jiwoo teased him by saying, "How did you get that wrong?" and "You should know Go Dong-mae. Others could be forgiven, but not him," bringing comedic relief. Ultimately, they dramatically succeeded in the first level on their last attempt. Choi Jiwoo remarked, "I got both of your questions right. I was the only one to get mine wrong," making Yoo Jae-suk burst out laughing, saying, "It’s still fun to see Jiwoo after a long time."
Carrying the exhilarating success with them, they took a lunch break. During this, Choi Jiwoo shared her recent experiences with kids, catching attention. She stated, "Relationships with other mothers are important, so I try hard to keep up," adding, "There's more than a 20-year age difference with the other mothers. That makes it more challenging," shedding light on the difficulties of being a late-blooming mother. In admiration, Yoo Yeon-seok said, "Didn't you do a lot of everything?" to which Choi Jiwoo replied, "Not that much. I couldn't shoot many films and still have aspirations for (projects). But these days, I feel like I’m going with the flow, and my heart feels more at ease," sharing her honest inner thoughts.
The final location for the three was Yangjae Elementary School. The owner of the show, a 3rd-year elementary school teacher, expressed, "I believe the elementary school period has a significant impact. Therefore, I think (the teaching profession) is important and valuable," which drew admiration. Yoo Yeon-seok recalled, "I took on many challenges in elementary school as well. I even ran for class president," reminiscing, "I still remember giving a speech saying, 'I will work hard until I achieve this' while placing old slippers and new sneakers on the stage," surprising everyone.
The second game for the teacher was 'School Bell Dong-deng-deng,' where they had to bounce a ping pong ball to ring a bell. Yoo Yeon-seok said, "We need to break the elementary school jinx," while Choi Jiwoo shook with immense tension, surprising everyone. After 8 attempts, Yoo Jae-suk barely succeeded in the first level and continued with the second attempt. With only one chance left, he remarked, "A miracle might happen. We've written dramatic reversal dramas before," then added, "I’ll go all out today" as he took the basket of ping pong balls into a realm of endless practice. Choi Jiwoo exclaimed, "Oh, this is driving me insane," letting out a sigh as she blew a kiss for luck on the ping pong ball, enhancing her earnestness. Unfortunately, it ended in failure, causing disappointment. The owner later sent a video of herself enjoying the ping pong game with the kids, adding warmth.
