Actress Lee Young-ae returns to KBS drama after 26 years.
The new KBS 2TV weekend mini-series "Eun-soo's Good Day," which is set to premiere in September, depicts the dangerous and desperate business journal of a parent, Kang Eun-soo, who wants to protect her family, and a two-faced teacher, Lee Kyung, who inadvertently comes into possession of a bag of drugs.
"Eun-soo's Good Day," which is already generating anticipation due to the meeting of Lee Young-ae and Kim Young-kwang, is slated to air in the second half of the year as KBS 2TV's second weekend mini-series. The acting ensemble of Lee Young-ae, who has an irreplaceable presence, and Kim Young-kwang, who has a broad acting spectrum, is one of the main highlights of this production.
Veteran actress Lee Young-ae returns to the KBS small screen after 26 years in the role of the protagonist, Kang Eun-soo. An ordinary housewife whose greatest happiness was her modest daily life with her family, Eun-soo is pushed to the brink by an unforeseen misfortune that strikes without warning. When she finds herself in need of a large sum of money, Eun-soo discovers a suspicious bag and becomes entangled in an uncontrollable whirlwind of fate. To save her family, Eun-soo eventually crosses a forbidden boundary and makes a dangerous proposal to her daughter's after-school art instructor, Lee Kyung, whom she meets unexpectedly. Lee Young-ae, who has established herself as an actress representing the era through intense female characters in numerous hit productions, is expected to showcase her unique presence once again through "Eun-soo's Good Day."
Actor Kim Young-kwang, who has won the public's affection with his broad character adaptability and stable acting skills, takes on the role of Lee Kyung and challenges himself with a multi-dimensional character that he has not shown before. He is an after-school art instructor at the middle school attended by Eun-soo's daughter, Sua, adored by female students for his charming looks and cheerful personality. He seems to be a rare perfect young man of this era, but he hides another side. Shrouded in mystery with his name, age, and occupation, he finds himself at a crossroads after receiving an unexpected partnership proposal from Eun-soo, a parent of the art club student, Sua. Kim Young-kwang, who freely traverses genres with a diverse acting spectrum as seen in productions like "The Villainess," "Call It Love," "Somebody," and "Fasoo," is expected to portray a dual character that navigates the boundaries between good and evil, hypocrisy and sincerity in this work.
The production team noted, "The mere meeting of Lee Young-ae and Kim Young-kwang is enough for "Eun-soo's Good Day" to be considered the most anticipated project of the second half of the year," adding, "The tension and synergy created by two actors with entirely different qualities will provide a fresh shock that has not been easily seen in existing dramas." "Eun-soo's Good Day," a well-made project created through the collaboration of director Song Hyun-wook, recognized as a craftsman of detail through various genres such as "Remarriage & Desires," "The Great Escape," "Beauty Inside," and "Another Miss Oh," and writer Jeon Young-shin, who showcases delicate writing skills with high-density realism in works like "The Great Lies," "Argon," and "Cheese in the Trap," is raising viewer expectations.
