At noon today (9th), Dr. Lee, a pioneer of the 'new music' genre in Korea and a legendary entertainer who has uniquely fused traditional music, dance music, and popular humor, is re-releasing his representative song 'Universe Monkey' in a mini donut LP format.
'Universe Monkey' was released in 2012 through a collaboration with Windy City, a representative band of the Korean reggae and punk scene. The unique introduction, which starts with Dr. Lee and Chief Kim's banter, features the upgraded sound and his profound commentary, "When you understand art, money becomes distant; when you understand money, art should become distant. That's how you become a musician," followed by delightful and audacious interjections that create a striking contrast and leave a strong impression.
"Eolssu jota assa", "Won-tu eolssigu", "Joha joha joha michyeo michyeo assa robi", "Kkungjjara jajjara kkungjjajja jjagajjaga jjanzza", and other comedic interjections unique to Dr. Lee, combined with Windy City's lively guitar riffs and addictive electronic sounds, truly showcase the essence of 'Korean-style cosmic tteokbokki'.
In particular, this song garnered explosive reactions when it was performed live at the Pentaport Rock Festival in 2012, and it has since been referred to as a legendary stage.
The upcoming mini donut LP of Dr. Lee X Windy City's 'Universe Monkey' will be available for listening on all music sites starting today (9th) at noon, and physical LP purchases will be possible from the end of July.
