Actor Jeong Seok-yong revealed that he has not only had a wedding with his 5-year-younger wife, but they have also not registered their marriage yet.
On the 8th, in the SBS program 'Shoe Off, Dolsing Four Men', Jeong Seok-yong, Jo Jae-ju, Jeong Joo-ri, and Kang Ye-won appeared as guests and shared stories.
On that day, Lee Sang-min mentioned, 'Brother Seok-yong left Won-hee and found his true half,' referring to Jeong Seok-yong's marriage news. Kim Jun-ho asked, 'Aren't you having a wedding?' and Jeong Seok-yong replied, 'There are currently no plans for the ceremony. We are already married,' and added, 'We haven't registered our marriage yet,' surprising everyone.
Kim Jun-ho expressed his confusion, saying, 'So you’re not actually married yet?' Jeong Joo-ri also asked, 'It’s not certain, is it?' Tak Jae-hoon inquired, 'The procedures are indeed important in Korean sentiment. What has been the priority, to live together or to have the wedding and registration? What was so urgent that you skipped the other steps?' Jeong Seok-yong explained, 'At my age, what significance is there in going through those procedures? I just want to live together quickly. So, we prioritized living together first. It’s not that I didn’t think about getting married, but I just wanted to live together quickly.'
Hearing this, Im Won-hee exclaimed, 'Why haven't you done it? You have to register your marriage. Don’t you want to? Are you leaving one foot out because you don’t want to? Why did you come out if you’re just going to announce that you're getting married?' Jeong Seok-yong shot back, 'Have you been drinking?' provoking laughter. Kim Jun-ho remarked, 'That guy gets angry whenever marriage talks come up,' and Im Won-hee displayed frustration, saying, 'What is there to brag about in that marriage?'
Lee Sang-min revealed, 'Before you got here, people were saying, 'Why did Seok-yong come out, this guy?'' and Jeong Seok-yong asked, 'Didn’t Sang-min drink together on the day he announced the marriage?' Lee Sang-min recounted, 'That day, we only talked trash for six hours before parting ways,' and Jeong Seok-yong criticized, 'He was drunk and caused a scene. What a fool,' causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Then, Lee Sang-min inquired about the love story, saying, 'The love that Won's brother wished for so long was an effortless encounter. That was achieved by our brother Seok-yong. The music director, 5 years younger, whom he had known for a long time, is now his wife.' Jeong Seok-yong explained, 'I’ve known her as a crew member since I started my acting career. But you know from living here, if you’re not working together on a project, you can’t see each other for 2-3 years. So, when we worked together, we spent two to three months together, sometimes apart, and that’s how we became acquainted.'
He continued, 'Then, about two and a half years ago, I was performing, and that friend happened to come to see it. Many people in our team know me, so she didn’t come just to see me. After it ended, we all gathered for beers, and when she greeted me saying, 'Oppa, it's been a while,' I joked since I had been drinking, 'Oppa, you’ve become handsome?' That kept lingering in my mind. So, I sent a message saying, 'Do you want to grab a meal?' but got no reply. I thought maybe that was it, but I sent another message. Then she replied, 'Who is this?' Apparently, my number had disappeared when she changed phones. But she agreed comfortably. We went for dinner, and then we met again for more meals and drinks.'
Lee Sang-min asked, 'How was it when you two met alone for the first time after knowing each other for 20 years?' Jeong Seok-yong replied, 'Honestly, it was awkward and shy. It was the first time we met just the two of us. At first, there was not much to talk about.' Kim Jun-ho then indicated, 'It’s really awkward. I’ve known (Kim) Ji-min for 15 years, but it feels really weird to kiss a junior,' and Jeong Seok-yong shyly acknowledged, 'Since we weren’t people who saw each other often, it wasn’t really awkward kissing.'
Im Won-hee asked, 'Where was your first kiss?' and Jeong Seok-yong answered, 'I think it was at home. Back then, I mainly went near her house to eat at restaurants; it wasn’t that far. About a 20 to 30-minute subway distance. I mostly went there early on. When I once suggested going to her house, she invited me over.' He also noted that they naturally started dating without explicitly saying 'let’s date,' stating, 'At this age, inviting someone over means you’re both aware. What reason is there to talk about 'Should we start dating now?' At this point, it’s already an agreement.'
Lee Sang-min asked, 'When you were together, did you hear bells and see halos?' Jeong Seok-yong replied, 'My wife has a bit of a cute style. She hasn't changed a bit; she's still lovely. Recently, she’s also been taking care of herself because she's encouraged me to do so.' He mentioned that the T-shirt he wore that day was also bought with his wife, and said, 'Isn’t it too flashy?' She told him to try it on, and he found it very pretty, adding, 'It’s not my usual style,' while he showed off the T-shirt by taking off his outerwear.
When asked, 'When did you feel like you could spend a lifetime together?' he replied, 'About a year later, we took our first trip to Sapporo in the summer. In some ways, traveling is like living together for a few days. But our travel styles were incredibly compatible. Not just in terms of food, she meticulously planned the trip. But I don’t have that talent; I enjoy following along. Our styles matched well, and it was comfortable. Being together was not burdensome at all.'
Tak Jae-hoon jokingly asked, 'I see you met as a guide?' and Jeong Seok-yong explained, 'So actually a nickname came about. I called her 'Mi-seo.' It means 'beautiful secretary.' She liked it, and to this day, I still call her that often.' Conversely, he called her 'Mi-mi,' which is short for 'crazy beauty.'
In particular, he mentioned that it was his wife who first brought up the topic of marriage, saying, 'Aren’t we supposed to live together now?' I was momentarily taken aback, but I replied, 'That’s right, come home.' He added, 'We can’t decide on our anniversary, can we? She suggested we use the day we first met as our anniversary. I didn’t remember it, but she did.'
Meanwhile, Jeong Seok-yong's wife, a 5-year-younger music director, has drawn attention for resembling actress Lee Young-ae. Jeong Seok-yong sparked waves when he revealed in last month's SBS program 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' that he 'has already married.'
