The group ILLIT filled the music video for 'jellyous' with a unique and hip sensibility.
ILLIT (YoonA, MinJu, MoKa, WonHee, IroHa) unveiled the music video for 'jellyous', a track from their mini album 'bomb', through the HYBE Labels YouTube channel on the 7th. The music video cheerfully depicts ILLIT's chaotic journey as they rush after a help message from someone they like.
The members' funky and kitschy visuals transformed into game characters catch the eye. They completed their unique game character images with colorful makeup and trendy rock chic and street fashion. This is in stark contrast to the innocent charm showcased in the title track 'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance).'
The main game character, IroHa, navigates through a bonus stage where she falls into a manhole and faces a terrifying horror experience. The members also actively carry out missions to help IroHa. From the brave and daring ILLIT, who tackles the challenging journey head-on, a sense of courage can be felt.
The powerful performance also stands out. The rhythmic and hip choreography, which rushes in at a fast tempo without a break, provides an exhilarating thrill. In particular, the so-called 'penguin step', where they step with full force, amplifies ILLIT’s bouncy energy.
'jellyous' is a dance pop genre song depicting the state of excitement and tension after planning a promise with someone you like—feeling unsure whether it's a date or not. It metaphorically mixes various emotions, likening them to mixed jelly as they feel jealousy regarding the heart of the unconfirmable 'you.'
The title track 'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)' is expected to enjoy paired popularity. The follow-up tracks 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' (mini album 1) and 'Tick-Tack' (mini album 2) from the previous two albums have also received positive responses on par with the title track due to their addictive melodies and key choreography. Fans have expressed their anticipation for the follow-up activities with enthusiastic responses like 'This follow-up song feels like a hit,' 'It's incredibly addictive,' and 'Perfect for summer weather.'
ILLIT will showcase the stage for 'jellyous' starting with the cable channel Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 10th, followed by KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank' on the 11th, MBC's 'Show! Music Core' on the 12th, and SBS's 'Inkigayo' on the 13th.
